Decorating on a budget for this party took a bit of forethought - the week after Halloween last year, I hit Target for their clearance sale. I picked up the core decorations for a song - sparkly skeletons, skulls, and candelabras for around $1 and bags of webbing for 25 cents. These formed the "core" of the decor, and I filled in the rest with inexpensive plastic spiders, rubber mice and "creepy cloth" from the dollar store. I also used dead branches (free!) spray painted black and sprinkled with glitter to form centerpieces.
Oh, I mustn't forget my beloved Mexican prayer candles! In addition to the fun fiesta colors I've used before, they also come in plain white. I've probably mentioned this before, but I really like the prayer candles because besides being inexpensive, they are heavy (hard to knock over), long burning, and easy to clean up because there are no drips.
For a little fun, I took my shot glasses and dipped them in Karo syrup dyed with food coloring and dropped a gummy eyeball in each one. A few extra eyeballs went into food bowls. Very appetizing!
